Billie and Striker—2010
Overall in 2010 BillieDawn, Striker and I did many excellent clinics, had a blast trailing in several different venues and with several different associations/clubs. We met some very interesting people, and learnt a ton. I figure as long as we are laughing, we’re good! My favorite memory of this year was at Pack Leader Farm when we were heading to the 5, and I would hold up my hand to steady the dog and the gang from BC would wave back….I didn’t get it ‘till our last run! …Why are these people waving at me? My least favorite memory was my and Striker’s score sheet from Kathy Warren that said “Handler Disappeared”. I’ve framed it.

Bill and Strike achieved many titles and many awards this year, I really pushed them to “try harder”, because Lynn Leach pushed me to try harder, it was the ripple effect J and it worked!

The AKC B course was a thrill for all three of us, Billie taking a 2nd place out of 8 started dogs on our very first try, I think that was the best run she and I ever did together, the pen work was classic Bill.

Strike on the other hand; well our big win on B course is that he stopped when I asked him to, for a second.

For a young dog, he is doing very well on all stock; I am particularly impressed with his work ethic on ducks. I have to remember he is still young and we have a long time together.

Striker—2009
As a one year old in 2009, our biggest success is I started to feel Striker wanting to work with me.  We competed in the BC ASCA trial at Lynn’s, where he qualified on sheep, and one leg each on ducks and cattle.  He did take most promising started aussie under Judges Marti Parrish and Dana Mackenzie, but in hindsight I wish I had waited a year.  Next year, I hope to walk into the trial arena with a very solid started dog!

Billie
Billie had another awesome year, at 3 years old she completed her Intermediate CKC titles with HIT on sheep, HIT on cattle and HC under Judge Steve Waltenburg, and on Sunday and Monday rec’d 2 RHIT under Judge Judy Garbarino, but most satisfying of all is she got her first Advanced leg on arena sheep, taking a 2nd place after Leroy Leach!

2009 was a huge learning year for both myself and my dogs.  Billie, because we had had such huge success in 2008, moving up to the next level has been a big challenge for us.  Striker, because he is such a different dog than Billie, and a very strong dog for me to start.  I also learnt I was not so good at organizing and competing!  Thank you Lynn for all your patience, understanding and  laughter!
